Thanks Doug. I am not familiar as much with 9th AF markings, but for me at least, that type screams "computer generated". I know you said it was for size and placement only, but I really feel it should be a lettering style comparable to others in the FG, if not the 401st FS. I would rather see no nose art than modern lettering personally. If you are interested, I can help with that. Send me an email, and I can show you what I am doing with the CAF.

It is computer generated in vinyl to match his P38. This is done for testing. When we have the final placement and size, it will be painted. Here is his P38 that we copied it from. Looks pretty close.

This was "the Brat" he was shot down and rescued then got another P38 "The Brat II". The Mustang became "The Brat III"

Chad Ezell is the "sign shop". If you can make a stencil to trace and then we can hand paint it in. The problem is that we will need to etch the metal with the stencil to get the paint to stick the best, then hand paint over the etch. During the war, they didn't worry how long it would stick. And the metal wasn't so polished.
