Finally took the time for a complete visit to LSFM, my first since hurricane Ike. While there are a few planes still being worked on and a few in the back of the 2nd hanger, the museum looks very nice and the gift shop is well stocked. All 5 "ride planes" were outside with the Stearman and AT6 giving rides today.

is that Guy Bordelon's paint scheme just without the radar dome on the F4u?

Sort Of, but it has the tail code of RW on the verticle stab instead of NP.

the PB4Y-2 Privateer is looking realy good, did they give a time frame when it might be ready to fly?

I didn't ask. The last time I was there (April) it was sitting outside. They have the two top turrets on display, I didn't post any pictures. I'll try to follow up on the status.

Thanks for the Lone Star update. Havent seen a full set of pictures of the collection and museum since the Hurricane. Looks like they are recovering nicely.

I never saw the cuban AT-11 before. Very cool, nice to see some unusual warbird markings. Is it airworthy? Either way it looks great.

I didn't ask about the status of the AT-11 but the website shows it: F/DISPLAY, I assume it can fly.

All the airplanes in the pictures that rode out the Hurricane were the PB4Y, TBM, PBY, PV-2, Tiger Moth, AT-11 (which they almost had ready to go but ran out of time), and the UC-78.

Here's the AT-11 as it appeared in 1980 at the Victory Air Museum, fresh out of decades in storage:

Great pictures. Thanks for posting. Do you have any pictures of the tail turret on the PB4Y-2 Privateer that you could post?

Thanks.

Ron

Here is the only shot I have of the rear turret. Also a shot of the two top turrets and another shot of the AT-11. I'll be going back soon so if you need anything in particular, let me know.
