6 days ago Scott posted a thread on the banning of Franklin. I have no issues with Scott for banning people
or letting the members know about it. I just wish that he would have locked thread immediately rather than
allow people to post comments some of which were unappropiate jabbs directed at Franklin who was unable to
defend himself. One posts suggesting that he'd been banned in Banning irked me a bit (OK it just pissed me off!).
I replied that he'd never be found near there and posted a picture of his residence. I probably shouldn't have done that
and almost a week later I really regret it. Since that thread started Franklin has received dozens off emails (not PMs)
from people who he doesn't know and doesn't want to know asking him to invest in various stuff (ie cr*p) or to just
send them money. This started with my post and it's no coinsidence either. How these people are getting his email is
mystery. Some are registered wixers and others unknowns. But this horse sh*t needs to stop and I mean NOW! He's
considering changing his email. If his phone starts ringing I'm not sure what he'll do! I do know what I'll do and that's
apologize to him for posting the photo that opened the floodgates of panhandlers. Those of you bugging him for god
sakes knock it off

Jack is 110% correct! Unfortunately, it seems to be a now accepted part of our collective 'us-ness'. People, pretty much as a whole, because of this type of communication system and all the others that have cropped up in the last few years and our seeming tacit acceptance of the 'if he pokes you, gouge him in the eye' mentality put forth by ALL of our elected politicos has brought about a very sad coarsening and degradation of the common sense and fair play spirit I know we were all raised with, and now everyone seems to believe they are anonymous and can say anything that crosses their minds, in other times you'd temper you comments because you knew someone would find you out and shame you, but I guess now a days people need to learn shame like most of them also need to learn table manners.

And well stated comment MB.

A pity if it's true, tho seems a bit tenuous of a leap...anonymous photo to e-mail breach...curious.

I think it's important not to take anything that's said on the net too seriously. Even nice people say regrettable things when they don't feel like anyone is looking over their shoulder. Sadly, thanks to modern technology, someone always is.

I confess to making a playful remark in that same thread which could, in retrospect, be construed as insulting, without even knowing who the heck everyone was talking about. I simply saw a bar room brawl and jumped in. (I can't resist an opportunity to be a smart ass, a habit which has resulted in more than one black eye since childhood. But also some funny cartoons, so it has its up side.)

Anyway, I feel suitably sheepish now, and more than slightly appalled that people actually pursued the gentleman in question in hopes of a handout. It would probably be best for all concerned if the offending thread was simply deleted.

Jack,

I'm thinking that this is an issue that needs some care about how to deal with it properly... I'm submitting this to Scott for review when he has the time.
I am appalled to hear about those phone calls, etc... As to the banning, well that's a separate issue, as is the issue of the comments made on the banning thread.

Might I suggest that if you really feel that way, why not delete your earlier photos and comments related to his financial status instead of starting a new thread directing even more potentially unwanted attention to them?

I would have done that in a second if Franklin has requested me do so. That wouldn't
have solved a problem that's been growing in intensity over the past week which I just found out about this morning.
That thread has had over 2600 hits and only about 40 today so deleating stuff would have made little difference by now.
In this case I think dealing with it directly and calling folks out about it was the best course of action.

Thinking about it a little more, it occurred to me TBDude the damage may have been done when old memories were triggered by....the house photo(we've seen before)+architect=former member who wasn't exactly anymouse back then(can't go back now)...just a thought..Jack's made his appeal for decency now, that's about all he can do.

Jack,
I cleaned up that thread and removed all posts and pictures that contain personal info about him. Will not stop people who allready have seen it, but let's hope it stops any new trolls!

I had a bad feeling when i saw the house picture posted. Just somehow knew it would end badly. I would say just don't let this discourage you from posting pictures of hot chicks tho Jack. I apologize if I offended anyone with the software business joke. It's just the gift that keeps on giving so I wanted to reuse it.

Interwebz Rule numero uno: Never post anything on the web you wouldn't post in the town square. Because it's the same thing.

Interwebz exception to rule numero uno: Attractive nose art (or potential nose art, or possible inspiration for nose art, etc., etc.)

Certainly we can agree about that.

Interweb rule number two: Never make your name or contact information available to the masses unless you want the masses to contact you using your name. They will.
