Where is Mr. Durand place located. I tried Google searching all over Alb but no luck.

Dick Durand, lives in Albuquerque, he is the broker on the aircraft for sale. The aircraft are located in El Paso.

Thanks for the info Rick. Doesn't John Sessions MiG 29 use burners as well as the MiG 17s? The Collings foundation jets use burners as well.

These are the only 106s not encumbered by the NMUSAF. There are no engines at AMARG. ALl 106s not expended by the drone program were brought back to AMARG, those not allocated for display, went through GSA for outside bid. If I remember right there were approximately 6 flyers returned. The ones that went through GSA had no landing gear and went to the scrapper, I believe there were 4-5 of those.

These aircraft were left at Tyndall and went through GSA. The current owner showed up to collect his aircraft and was told that he had to demil them prior to movement. A long series of negotians ensued and a plan for surgical demilling was approved. The aircraft were released and they were shipped to El Paso. Been there ever since, this all happened over 10 years ago.

Rick, do you know if 59-0043 still at AMARG then? This was the NJ ANG machine with all of the special "Last of the Century Series" markings on it. She was flown back to Tucson after the drone program ended. I hope she gets saved and not shredded...

Can't answer about specific serial numbers. I did see the aircraft with all of the records painted on it. Remember this was sometime between 2000 and 2004. Don't remember exactly when. The six or so flyers that had been returned were parked on the north side of Kolb rd pretty close to the bridge. I believe the plan was for those aircraft to be allocated to interested qualified parties for display. I would check Joe Baugher's list.

Sorry! Brain cramp! I had a couple things in progress @ the time I posted, I was attempting to say FINDING an operable AB might be an issue, and I don't know if the fuel control and other accessories are simular or if they had a 'military only' modifications done, but the JT-4 core is the same engine as the J75.

So as I was strolling casually down memory lane this morning, I typed in F-106 Delta Dart in the search engine here and this old post came up. I see in the one picture, a tail leaning up against a building. If I remember correctly, the yellow band with the stars on it is the flashing from the 5 FIS which was at Minot AFB when I was stationed there back in the Cold War...ages ago. What a wonderful thought (wish) that someone posted here about getting a -106 airborne again! Anybody know if the derelict fuselages are still where they were? Not much chance of getting Collins interested in putting a -106 back in the air?

Would there be a question to if they could get her back in the air would the NMUSAF allow it? It wasn't too long ago they blocked the Collings Foundation bid to make a F-105 Thud a operational airplane.
