The May 2011 Desktop Calendars and Wallpapers are now available from the Warbird Depot website (http://www.warbirddepot.com/desktop_calendars.asp), this month includes:

1. Steve Hinton flying Comanche Fighters’ Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat over Chino, CA during the 2010 Planes of Fame Airshow. It had just emerged from the paint shop in the colors of Lieutenant Commander Edward "Butch" O'Hare’s Hellcat.

2. Three P-51D Mustangs in formation over former 8th Air Force territory in East Anglia en route to Fowlmere on August 15, 2009. Nearest the camera is P-51D ‘414419’ (G-MSTG) “Janie” piloted by Dave Evans, then CAC-18 Mustang 22 ‘472217’ (G-HAEC) “Big Beautiful Doll” flown by Rob Davies MBE, with P-51D 44-13521 (G-MRLL) “Marinell” flown by Maurice Hammond furthest away.

3. Jason Somes flying the CAF Southern California Wing’s Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero over Lake Wanaka during the lead up to the 2010 Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow. It was the first time that a Zero was displayed in New Zealand and the aircraft and crew were very popular during their stay.

4. Clay Lacy flying Joe Clark’s Grumman F7F-3 Tigercat over Chino, CA in preparation for the 2009 Planes of Fame Airshow.

5. The Horsemen P-51 Flight Team practicing prior to the 2010 Planes of Fame Airshow in Chino, CA. Taken from the P-51D “February”, being flown by right wing pilot Ed Shipley, you can see Jim Beasley flying lead in P-51C “Princess Elizabeth” and Dan Friedkin flying left wing in P-51D “Double Trouble Two”.

6. Jim Harley piloting The Collings Foundation's Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft” near Stockton, CA. during the annual Bomber Crew Fantasy Camp. During this special event conducted by Vintage Aircraft, an actual Norden bombsight is used to try and hit a ground target with replica 250 pound dummy bombs.

7. Painted in Bolivian Air Force markings, this 1938 Curtiss-Wright 19-R is being flown by the late Don Carter out of Schellville, CA. It was recovered from a pole in Bolivia and restored in Texas.

8. Ex-Royal Canadian Air Force Lockheed CF-104D (c/n 583A-6401, RCAF Serial 12631, N104RB), operated by Starfighters Inc., gave a spirited display during the Valiant Air Command Museum’s 2011 TICO Warbird Airshow at the Titusville Space Coast Regional Airport.

9. Whistler Air’s Turbo Otter is seen landing in Vancouver Harbour with passengers returning from the Whistler Mountain Ski Area. Whistler Air operates both the DeHavilland Beaver and Turbo Otter in this very attractive paint scheme. They have been in business since 1986 and started with a Cessna 185 floatplane operating out of Green Lake in Whistler, B.C. The airline operates in conjunction with Rocky Mountaineer Railway to provide tourists a spectacular trip along the BC mountain coastline.

10. NAV Canada Flight Inspection Operation’s CL-600-2B19 (C-GNVC s/n 7519) performing an ILS calibration on runway 05 at Toronto’s LBPIA on February 20, 2011.

I'd love to see photographer credits on these (and I'll bet the photographers would too!). In particular who took the pretty CAF Zero shot.
