Right place-right time :wink:

The Allen Emil is basically a new build aircraft -sweet as it is. The 190A is as original as it gets.... (the Florida F-8 is largely rebuilt, so even though a fantastic machine which will also be powered by a BMW it can't really be compared)..... and I am sure will be treated with kid gloves!

The FHC Dora used to be in the Champlin collection when Allen bought it. It wasn't flown because no one could figure out how to get the flight controls to hook up, the pushrods wouldn't line up by a bunch, vertically. Then a few years ago @ some symposium the guys from FHC got to comparing notes with folks from NASM about their Dora. Come to find out, the NASM's airplanes flight controls wouldn't hook up either for the exact opposite alignment issues. A true "HMMMM" moment occurred and it was eventually concluded that the wings of the two had been swapped when they were parcelled out. One was equipped with inboard cannons and the other wasn't which explained the pushrod misalignment, I believe a wing swap was arranged and both airframes wound up with their original wingsets.

Yep, and according to one of the guys at Gosshawk the NASM received a much nicer wing than they gave away!

I remember the Dora there many years ago with several other very nice machines. the P-47 and P-38 that Champlin had, what was the status on those two flying or not flying in the past. I've always had a great liking to both of them.

Both the Jug and the Lightning flew prior to Champlin obtaining them but not while in his posession. (With the possible exception of being ferried from Oklahoma to Arizona.) Little chance of them ever seeing air under their wings again now I suppose. At least the Spitfire managed to "escape" and will be flown again.

Yes I believe so and I thought I saw a youtube video of that happening here once. Looked like a lot of work to get it fired up.

The Oscar would need a new engine because the cylinders were borescoped and they have damage. Per the reader board in front of the Dora it states restored to almost flying condition and the engine isn't run because it is pickled.
