Someone told me they saw a plane on Memorial drive in Bradley Beach NJ. I went there tonight on my way home from work and it looks like the F-104 from Great Adventure has migrated from Jackson to Neptune right off Memorial drive for you locals. Not sure what it is doing there but I am afraid it may be going on its final journey.

It looks like it is in the Park Steel yard. I couldn't get pictures as we are having really bad rain here now. I did not see the nose either. I'm not sure she is being scrapped but being where it is I don't see a happy ending.

I have sent a message to the head of the park about it. I will post what I get back here.

I will be back home Monday and live 15 minutes from there if I can help anyone. I would call every museum on the east coast to try and stop the scrapping since so many parties were interested. Pm for my phone number.

I visited the Great Adventure site when this thread opened, took pictures and attempted to contact Six Flags to try to buy it for preservation. I got distracted by work and was alarmed by what I read yesterday. As my holiday obligations had been dealt with, I drove to Great Adventure to see for myself. Sure enough, Lukoil signs have taken the plane's place.

I continued on to Park Steel and Iron. I was surprised to find the plane had survived its trip unscathed! I suspect that either Park bought it for themselves or a customer. If not, I am willing to pay over scrap value and I have a place to put the plane. Any help in getting the plane would be appreciated.

According to Park, they are repairing it for Great Adventure.

That is good news Art. Much better than the alternative! Thanks for hunting it down and getting the scoop.

The F-104 is on display in the park again as part of the new Green Lantern rollercoaster.
