I heard a crazy rumour that FHC is currently not going to fly their Fw-190 and Bf-109 together on Luftwaffe Day because they won't have enough pilots checked out in either bird?
Don't know if it's true, but it would be awful not to have these two birds in the air together.

As far as I know, the airplane isn't even here yet. We've had so much wind and rain for....seemingly EVER, that the ducks are carrying umbrellas and wearing galoshes. I can look out @ the hillside just East of my front room window and see it snowed down to about 1000 feet again last night. So the weather has had at least some effect on it's arriving here and not having weather nice enough to go learn the airplane,
I'd rather they wait until the pilots are comfortable with the airplane before they show it to the public since they do fly pretty close to the crowd and pretty low too.

True it is not in Everett yet, supposedly it is on it's way in the back of a trailer. Apparently it is getting re-assembled in Everett once they move the Mig and Steve Hinton is suppose to do all the flight tests. So maybe we will see it in the circuit at Paine in the coming weeks, weather permitting of course.

Well, that seems to be astonishing to me. I always thought (and do think) that in USA exists the largest Warbirdcommunity, most Warbirdpilots of all, expierienced taildragger users, and now that? No pilot for the Fw 190 but Steve Hinton for now, yes. But none else for the 109? Hmmmmm. Or did I get something wrong?

According to the FHC Fly Day schedule, the first public flying of the FW-190 is not until June 18th. I am sure that there will be flight testing before that, but probably nothing that will be announced ahead of time. I know that even on that day, the 109 is not scheduled to fly (according to their schedule).

I thought that Bud Granley was being/has been checked out in the Fw

And I thought I read somewhere that John Penney as well...

I do agree that it does seem highly improbable, apparently John Penney has only taxied the 190, but as of last week the 109 and 190 where not scheduled to fly on Luftwaffe Day. This could and I hope will change.
The reason I posted what I heard is I figure if enough people voice their opinions here, then maybe they will work a little harder to make sure they have a pilot checked out in time for Luftwaffe Day. FHC does a good job at presenting their aircraft and I am sure they will do all they can to get both aircraft in the air at the same time.
I know the disappointment factor would be huge if they did not fly together at some time during the season. Let us hope it is only a rumour and nothing more.

Seems it would be standing room only if they did have them both fly. Not to mention maybe just start the Dora up and have them all running at the same time...

Speaking of standing room only, how many of you "out of towner's" are gonna make the trip up to Everett to see the 190 fly? How far are you willing to travel?
Wed Apr 13, 2011 10:33 pm
I will travel the 1 1/2 miles from my house to the flight line. Rad

I've got to go 7 miles.
