This is a message I'm passing on from Bill:

I'd like to apologize for some things I wrote last week.

I had 4 days where some things outside of WIX went badly and it really made me edgy. I had a business dispute where I had to move from being friendly to being adversarial. It's not the way I like to do things, and I was really disappointed that my efforts to be trusting and generous were taken advantage of. I did finally resolve it.

The topic about Chanute AFB brought back the days when I was part of a military that lost it's direction. Most people would now agree that Nixon was not a leader that we should be following, not a truthful or honorable man and that war was not one we should have been in, and too many of our people made horrible sacrifices. It went on 15 years and 58,000 deaths.

So in responding about the attacks on me under the Chanute AFB topic, I went a little too far. For years on WIX I have had a few people make personal remarks against me. I have ignored them mostly; I feel sorry for some of the things written by others and I have stuck to the topics. I think I went a little over the line in my response to the attack made against me on the Chanute AFB post.

For that I apologize, Bill Greenwood

Hey, Bill, apology accepted. We all overheats from time to time, but not everyone owns up to it. Bravo. Good man.

I am surprised to learn that he was suspended for the Chanute AFB discussion. Albeit a bit perplexing, I didn't find what he said all that inflammatory, but perhaps I missed part of what was said. Then again I can't say that it appeared that Bill was being personally attacked either, but again perhaps I have missed something. While I don't understand Bill's point of view on many issues, I'm up for debating with him any time, and there are certain issues such as Warbird safety that I find myself aligned with Bill. I think people need to take what is said on this and other sites with a grain of salt, and develop a bit of a thicker skin if they are to engage in conversations with the potential of opposing points of view.

Time for my Mea Culpa.

Due to some other things going on, I have not been on WIX as much as I would have liked to.
Stress is a common theme for many people these last few months.

I heard about this “stuff” after things were said and saw the results of it, after it had happened.
What has happened has happened… What is done is done.
Please I don't want to go into details about the "why things happen". That is not the purpose of my post.

But I do need to say the following to Bill "if" he happens to read this.
I count Bill as a friend, and talk to him often about aviation.

Bill, I also owe you an apology.
I knew that you were having a rough week.
I also had known that you sincerely felt bad about what has been said in postings.
I did have an opportunity to pass that message on to the members of WIX but failed to do so.
In that regards, I have failed to stick up for you as a friend. I am sorry for that.

To everyone else: I enjoy WIX and enjoy being a part of it. It is a outstanding site with a great deal of information.
I look forward to reading more warbird topics in the future.

Some very small advice if I may.
If you are in the Colorado region, and have an opportunity to meet Bill, I would recommend that you do so.
Regardless of what kind of aircraft he owns, or if you agree or disagree with his political views, he is a great guy to know and has a wealth of information.

You would be shortchanging yourself if you like warbirds, and didn’t talk to him.

Best Regards,
Paul Gordon

Mr. Greenwood and I are not on each other's Xmas card list and this might get me crossed off a few others, but here goes:

Name me one other member who has, so REPEATEDLY, "crossed the line" to the point of being suspended.
Now, if there's going to be a thread with his "messages by proxy" and the resultant, "Poor, poor, Bill" responses, could maybe there be a separate forum for that?

Mudge

Hey Mudge,

You don't like Bill. You've said as much REPEATEDLY. Maybe there should be a separate forum for that?

That would be OK. At least it would be free from the genuflecting. By the way, I wouldn't be alone on that forum.

I appreciate the apology from Bill, and I will consider reactivating his account once the suspension has been served. Bill has supporters and detractors on this forum and has taken a fair share of abuse, but he has also dished it out on numerous occasions. He has been warned repeatedly and even banned previously. I lifted his banning so he could pay his respects when our mutual friend passed on. However he was on probation and a warning to behave. He didn't, so I suspended him again. I should have banned him for life. I have only had to do that once before and I don't wish to do it again. Once the 90 day ban is over I will considering letting him back on, but on probation. Hopefully this clarifies things a bit.
