Does anyone have any inside scoop or observations on what's going on in the air over Libya? This is NOT intended to be political; I'm posting the question because if there's anywhere where there's a good chance of getting more interesting and insightful info than what the press is reporting, it's here! Thanks!

Well, Yahoo has a nice pic of an F-111 going full vertical in flames as the pilot ejected... Neat pic! I thought it was one of ours at first, then read the info. Must have been left over from last time we were friends...

I'm not 100% sure, but that's how it looked to me, with the zoomed in still photo-

More likely an SU-24.

I admit I don't know my Rooski airplanes very well..but it looks like a MiG-23 too me. Doesn't look like the poor pilot punched in time though.

The photos I saw looked like a single engine aircraft where as the SU-24 is a wider fuselage with 2 engines.

Looks like he is still in the seat and the chute is not opening.

Last F-111's were flown here in Australia until Dec last year. Hardly going to be one of them.

i thought this should be in the MILITARY MATTERS section as these are current operations..

He'd just punched out at the point when that still was pulled from the video. Not sure if his chute bloomed or not. He was in a spin, on fire, and low when he finally punched out.

I'd agree that with the closer view it looks like a Mig-23.
