For those that mentioned that I should start a tanker thread, I'm going through what I have and will do just that. Dad had a few he took while in Korea and I may post some of those as well.

Stay tuned kids :)

LOL at the A-26 nose art.
We used to call that "Pressed ham on glass".
The A.D. affected many different aircraft in my younger days. A-26, B-25 even an AT-11... Fortunate most occurances were not caught in action.....

Since we're just throwing up random photos here is one of my own which may be of interest. This is the PBY-5A of Hans Lauridsen at Glendale airport in Glendale, Arizona shortly after he acquired it. The paint did not last long and the airplane remains at Glendale although it is now completely stripped to bare metal. With as many projects as Mr. Lauridsen seems to have going on I think I would have left the paint on the PBY while a few others were finished but that's just me.

Last time I posted a series of older Mustang pics, the bandwidth load killed my photobucket account for the month! I've got loads of pics, if someone wants to pay to ungrade my photobucket account to unlimited access

G'day Bill,

Considering what could have happened, it's a good thing that an arm was all that he lost.

Yep, lucky to survive, and never looked back. He ended up a Judge in Tulsa!

Good to see that "Tallahasee Lassie" now has her guns and even better to see work being done on the Hellcat.

Didn't Hans Lauridsen have a B-25, C-119 and a bunch of other stuff? Seems like I heard he was going to build a museum. Whatever happened to his plan?

He does have quite an ecclectic collection but I don't know what his plans are for them at this point. I think he wanted to build a museum at Glendale but had a "falling out" with those that manage the airport and ended up moving most of his collection to Buckeye. I know he still has the PBY, DC-3, Mig-15, and Mig-21 at Glendale simply because they are not currently airworthy. He also had a TBM, T-28 and T-6 (all airworthy) hangared there but I'm not sure if they are still at Glendale or if they have moved as well. The B-25, A-26, C-119, and C-1 were all out at Buckeye last I saw them. There are other WIX'ers who are much more informed on the collection than I. Hopefully one will check in at some point and offer more solid information.

Hemiman, see if you can find out what squadron your friend's father-in-law was flying with at the time, and/or date, location, etc. A Bureau Number for the plane would be fun to know too! :D
