Okay, watching that making of video... I'm really don't want to admit how many times I nearly ducked right out of my chair.

Nathan - I am so lucky to have been able to fly what I have flown, mostly thanks to the CAF and a few other aviation groups over the last three decades, and I am very happy to share some of the experiences with you. If anyone had told me as an 11-12 year old fascinated with both WWI and WWII aviation that I would be able to someday fly WWI and WWII fighters and other combat types, I would have not believed them! Some I had to do on my own nickel, but there is a good and strong reason to join the CAF - to help keep 'em flying! Today, I do my best to qualify new and younger pilots to fly the old iron. All the best.

Randy

If anyone knows the spot where that film crew was shooting, please post, and I will post a Google map of it. Seems like it would be a lot of fun to visit the spot if/when travelling out there.

Well, I like doing that sort of thing, anyway, would like to know where it was. 8)

A further update for those of you not lucky to live here in our fair Republic ...

The TV spot is being reaired, saw it for the first time during a Mavericks basketball game a couple of nights ago. It is the original spot, then a logo, and a voiceover statiing that the vote contest was won by the 'Texas Confederate Air Force'.

Thank God for Texas, and the balls not to water it down with Commemorative P.C.

Keith

BTW - you WIXers have yourselves to thank for this. Without some of you pounding the keys, we would have never made it out of the round of 8, much less end up in the Winner's Circle.

Wow. After viewing that footage, suddenly these photos (copied directly off the "Don't Mess With Texas" Facebook page)
don't seem nearly so implausible!

Now I see why they didn't open the bomb bay doors.

I think the WIXers had everything to do with this!

I clicked until i could click no more!! My wife thought I was INSANE.., which maybe I am!

But it was worth it!!! Although I always liked the Willy Nelson spot as well.., maybe my overall favorite until it was pitted against the CAF!!!

Any links to the updated spot?

best,

S

WIXers, you will either love or absolutely hate this press release from the campaign about the winning commercial. Personally, I'm not too happy with one Stephan Brown, quoted as President and CEO of the Commemorative Air Force, taking credit for the victory for himself and his 8000 members. Stephan, if you read this, when did you even know about the contest, and how many times did you personally vote?

A note of thanks from the CAF's leadership to the members of this forum would be in order. The CAF is enjoying a great deal of free publicity because of this. I am convinced that the vast majority of votes that were cast came as a result of the initial posting in this thread and the endless key pounding and mouse clicking done by folks in response to it.

Most folks who are touting the victory here in our Great Republic didn't even know about the contest until it was over. Everyone's jumping on the bandwagon now ...

This is all well and good except you have no idea how many members of the CAF were involved in the voting. Maybe it was all 8,000 of them. Maybe wix did not have as much to do with this as people here think. What makes you think wix is responsible for the win? This certainly isn't the only place that this contest was advertised. Not by a long shot. Yes the CAF is enjoying the free publicity and it is well deserved. Sounds to me like you just do not care for Stephen Brown and his organization.

Stephen Brown and "his organization" He didn't have a thing to do with the commercial or the contest. If he did everbody in it would be wearing blue shirts looking like Wal-mart greeters!

Warbird2, if I may ask a couple of questions ...

Do you belong to the Commemorative Air Force?

When did you learn of the contest?

How many times did you pesonally vote?

1. Almost. My application has been sent.
2. A guy at tech school heard about it in fort worth while at a place called Billy Bobs and told me about it.
3. I didn't count. I did vote a lot of times while studying and watching tv.
