I just want to put out this little bit of information before the rumor mills start up. We flew two hops on our A4 on Monday and on the last hop during landing rollout, we had a partial strut failure which led us off the runway and into the mud. Our pilot is fine and the airplane is ok too. Once we got the airplane back onto the runway and into the hangar we could see the strut was down, but not completely flat. We'll be doing an inspection and should be back flying in a couple of weeks.
Thank you,
David

THANKS for the update, David. Very happy to hear that the pilot is okay and that the Skyhawk should be back flying before too long. The A-4B is a real warbird treasure (more so than ever with the Centennial of Naval Aviation this year) and I am looking forward to seeing it at Thunder Over Michigan in July!

Glad there is so few harm done. Was it a wing gear leg strut or the nose leg one ? Sorry it ends up being more work for you David... hope the pilot buys beer to keep you going ;-)

Are you sure that wasn't just done for a movie?

Glad to hear everything is ok.

Thanks guys. I'm glad it wasn't more. We had one of the mains go down on rollout and thankfully it wasn't going to fast when it went into the half frozen ground. That probably helped a lot too as in a couple of weeks it would be really soft and would have likely done more damage. Our right hand drop tank needs to be beat back into shape and are we glad we had them installed! I kind of chuckled on the movie comment!

Thanks for the info Sabre. Glad to hear everyone is ok and damage is minimal. I also like the fact that you snuffed out any rumors before they started.

Tanks are good ! The standard TA-4 fit for NATC was 2 drops, mainly to save the airframe !

That nose is screaming for me to come and rescue it. It looks great Scott. I need to plan a trip up your way. Nothing major with the Scooter needs straightening. I have a little work to do on the one drop tank as it took a little damage. We should be flying by the end of the month. I can find something for you to straighten if you're bored up there? Take Care
