I took my 7 year old daughter to Udvar-Hazy today. Jessica is autistic, mostly manifesting through an almost complete lack of speech. I held her hand and let her lead me through the museum. Once we got there, she made a beeline for the P-61. That's my girl!

Never too young to start. I took my kids to the CAF when they were young about the time the Memphis Belle movie came out. They were really intrigued by it so I took them inside Sentimental Journey and had them tell me which of the crewmembers were at each station. They also learned to respect the planes and the history they represented. Now I'm doing the same with my grandkids

It's definitely never too early to start! My grandfather had me on a steady diet of Battle of Britain and watching him restore various planes in his shop.

I've done the same for my daughter...little booger turns 4 next month and can already tell the difference between a Spitfire and Hurricane.

I saw Top Gun as a kid, and loved it. Then Memphis Belle. My Grandfather took me to the airshow, and took me through my first B-17. I will never forget that. It was Texas Radiers. I am happy to report that I am doing the same with my daughter now. She loves the F4U and the B-17.

My twins and the B-17 "Liberty Belle". They call it the "plane with the little door." Everytime it (or another warbird) flies over our house, they say, "Look daddy, some of your friends!"

These kids are the reason why warbirds, as well as other pieces from history, should be around. Great pics and nice reading. The kid in the T-6 might need to upgrade to a full size one in a few years.

i'm teaching my son, just like my father taught me. Hopefully one day when i'm long gone he will have the respect for the men and women who fought for our freedom and the machines in which they did it in. :D

Thats my grandson Vonallen in the T-6. I sat with him in the CAFs T-6 and showed him how everything worked and let him move the controls around. He likes the Aeronca the best since thats the airplane for little kids as he likes to say. He saw a Corsair on TV (Black Sheep) last week and want me to make him a Corsair pedal car. Guess what I'm making now? By the way, I love seeing the little kids around these planes. They are the reason I do this. I thought the pics of his kids that Tim Savage put on the back of the Warbirds Digest magazine were awesome.
