I hope it all gets sorted out and you guys can make it, Baldeagle.

On the programme of events they sent me this morning, they list a "Curtiss A-1 Triad Demonstration" for 9.00 on Saturday morning at NAS North Island.

Thanks Mike, I was told yesterday that they can't get the Triad running and that it will only be static display. There are some good guys out there (and he knows who he is, and reads these boards) who are working hard to get Bob's Curtiss to North Island, but there seem to be others who think that Naval Aviation started in 1941, despite the Centennial. And Bob was going to foot almost all of the expenses himself, except for transport of the airplane, just to be a part of it. In the scheme of things it isn't a big deal, and the Curtiss has a lot of other shows to go to this year, but a shame for them to miss an opportunity like that.

Looks like a local radio station will be streaming VIDEO of the flyover tomorrow. From ASB:

"I just heard back from KOGO.com and they said their LIVE webcast will have a VIDEO FEED also !!
Here's their webcast link that starts LIVE on Saturday at 3PM (EST)"

Planes and the carrier Stennis have been arriving at North Island for the past couple of days. Flying warbirds are basing out of Brown Field. The AZ CAF Wing has their B-17 “Sentimental Journey” and B-25 "Made In The Shade" selling rides at the field as well this weekend. SD is the place to be. 8)

I wasn't going to go, but I have no plans tomorrow so I will be there. I texted a friend who said he was definitely going so that sealed it for me.

I just spoke with Al Holloway at Holloway Engineering ( http://www.radialengine.com/) and he was in San Diego this last week installing his OX-5 in the Triad, so they should have been able to run the Triad in the bay.

I shoulda done this,, i found a great airfare last night from the east coast and would have been in San Diego by 10:30 am. but i still have this goddamn flu and couldnt force myself to do it, something i am regretting already this afternoon. I bet watching this from Point Loma would be fantastic! Hope everyone here who attend take a lot of pics for us fools that didnt make it. JT

Is anyone getting a clear video feed? The resolution is really bad for me.

What a frekin' nightmare!

We drove two hours down to see the event, hit the ramp to the 5 South at 8:13 am....and sat there, going no more than 100 yards in the next hour and a half! Traffic is a diaster, CHP is doing nothing to help (Except, of course, when they sent a bevy of motorcycle officers to clear the way for one of their own trucks and tarilers to get through traffic....). We were still over a mile away from the exit to the bridge at this point.

We finaly left and drove all the way back home. Traffic was backed up at least five miles on all freeways leading towards the bridge to the island. Had we stayed, the ships would have already been closed to the public- IF they even had enough parking once we got there. My wife had to go to great lengths to get time off of work, and now she is upset probably more than me (Her father spent his life in the Navy and she was really looking forward to the event).

I know a lot of people worked hard to make this happen, but whoever was supposed to handle traffic really fell down on the job.

Those who didn't go are far ahead of those who did at this point...... :x :x :x :x

I found the trick to attending these kind of events, be it Mirimar, Edwards etc. is to be one of the first there, specially when Top Gun was at mirimar. we used to be at the gate at 6am! Leaving was another story, we usually just went to the Officers club to wait out the traffic, but usually ended up staying till we got kicked out, lol
