Ok...lemme' get this straight. There are those here who have expressed a disdain for those of us who do reenacting in any other uniform than "ground crew" hanging around aircraft. From your posts, I get the impression that these particular "ground crew" reenactors are not actually the ground crew for those particular, or any, a/c. Based on that impression, what you're saying is that's it's OK for these "ground crew" reenactors to pretend to be someone they aren't, but it's not OK for the rest of us to pretend to be someone we aren't. A "poser" is a "poser" regardless of what he/she is pretending to be.

I think that the correct phraseology is "I could not care less" or "I couldn't care less".

"I could care less" is incorrect and makes no sense.

I couldn't care less means that you could not care any less than you already do. It means you really do not care.

If you say "I could care less", well, that means that you actually care but you could care less (perhaps one could care less later on?).

The phrase used in a sentence:
"I think this thread is on its way to a lock situation and I couldn't care less."

Anybody know of a message board just for people that actually work on and fly warbirds? I'm looking for people who really do the job.

I've been to a lot of airshows and I've never seen any re-enactor in costume actually work on or fly a warbird. Seems to me like not even the owners take them seriously. I see them posing for pictures and generally getting in the way, but never actually doing the job. I've even seen a few on here that say they work on airplanes and they were in in the military so it's ok if they were the uniform to do it. I've tried hard and can't remember a single time I have seen any of them do anything at an airshow except pose and I have made it a point to look over the last few years.

Re-enactors are like flies and ants at a picnic. They work their way in and before you know it they are too numerous to do anything about except step around them and get rid of as many as you can.

If this board is any indication of where the warbird world is actually head then I'm not sure really want to be involved afterall. Re-enactors and model builders thinking they are important in the warbird industry...whats next?

Actually, I do like the re-enactors. I do like to see them hanging around and adding some 'color' to the scenery.

And yes, sometimes they do get in the way. Just as spectators, tourists, little kids, the FAA, girls (but , who's counting!!).

There's 2 sides to this situation. Pro & con. In the big picture: keep them coming.

Right off the top of my head I can think of two examples where you are dead wrong in your assessment of the importance of reenactors and model builders in the warbird industry. 1) WWII Weekend at Reading, PA, and 2) Jerry Crandall and Dana Bell. Closed-mindedness will get you nowhere, in warbirds or elsewhere....

The second best thing to come from this thread is that I learned that this is disrespectuful...

But this is totally ok.

If I was in a pinch and needed some condiments, I would totally want this guy on my side. As for the Mustang, I wouldn't turn down a ride from the owner either. I'm sure he's having fun too, just like the first guy.

pps. How about you detractors do this...the next time you're at a show where there are reenactors, go into any of the encampments and shout, "You're all a bunch of posers." I suggest you have your cell phone with you so you can call the EMTs. :wink:

So you would trivialize what hundreds of thousands of men died doing do you and I could live in a free society? That's one of my points we do this to help honor and pass on the history of this great nation and it's military.
