No, I don't believe I did and WE don't need to justify anything to you. We do what we do because: First and foremost, we believe we're bringing to life a piece of history for others to learn from and enjoy and secondly, because we enjoy doing it.
The organizers of the events we attend invite us to be there. Why? Two reasons. We help draw crowds and they know the crowds enjoy the reenactor's participation. If we weren't part of the attraction, the organizers wouldn't keep encouraging us to attend.
A lot of the airshows have the Tora, Tora, Tora reenactment or the reenactment of the flag raising on Iwo Jima. Many have mock battles. Is it your position that the attendees think these reenactments are "childish"? If so, why do they keep paying to see them? If you don't think these reenactments are popular so be it, just don't get between the crowds and the fenceline when the show starts.

I find it hard to believe that you're as narrow minded as you're opinions on the subject would indicate, I'm beginning to think you're pushing our buttons just to get a reaction. Bad part is, we took the bait.

Again, you're wrong. I didn't say you are childish. I said you seem to have a need to prove to me that you aren't childish. Your insistence only seems to drive the point further home, ie that you seem to have some need to prove yourself to me or something. I could care less what you guys do in yor spare time. I simply gave my opinion and am now forced to defend myself from three people who are insistent that I need to change that opinion. Or whatever.

You are right. You don't need to justify anything to me. Nor do I need to justify myself to you. THerein seems to lie the problem. While you demand your freedom to expfress yourself throuhg your hobby you also demand that I not express my opinion about your hobby. Freedom of expression has to work both ways or it isn't freedom. As I said all along, I like the uniforms in context around the aircraft. I think it is awesome.

I have just as much right to say these people are freaks as you do to say that I am for not subscribing to their lifestyle. This is one of the "cons" to re-enacting. Some people just don't buy it and never will. So what? It is a relatively free country. Do as you wish.

As stated early on my me and many others.., to have a pilot and or ground crew dressed up on display around their vintage (period style) aircraft or armour is awesome and I 'get' it.

Chasing each other around and play shooting is ridiculous. I hated it when I did it back in the early 90's with the MILES at Ft. Leonard Wood. It was 'silly'. I got it. It was training. But silly non-the-less. (i learned very early on not to fire the blank cartridges in my rifle. They were a very 'dirty' round and it took a lot of cleaning post event. I was out for the evening while the rest of my unit was still breaking down their rifles )

Honestly, you are not going to change my mind or others no matter how L O N G your post are. So move on please and post more photos of the Huey or Bird Dog, please!

Wow 'Mudge' by your avatar and the P-51 in the background and your hair color and overall appearance, I initially had legitimately assumed you were a WWII veteran. Must have been the uniform. Or your demeanor on this site. Taking for granted you look really GOOD for a 90 year old. But you would initially trick me and I would no doubt ask you for a photo-op.., until I learned the truth and realize i could 'rent' your uniform from the local costume shop.

Now I know you are just a 'poser'.

Albeit an enthusiastic one, who has the same affinity for aircraft and their history as I do.., but you are still.....,just someone dressing up in a costume.
