Nice photos. I wonder how much has changed in the years since your visit. In 1994 we were going to visit there but we got so lost we never made it.

I went to Bassingbourne years(1983) ago before i joined the RAF ,it was an army recruitment thing and i had a go at defusing a bomb , needless to say i would've had a very short career .

What book on the 91st did you get there , plane names & fancy noses or, the ragged irregulars of Bassingbourn
Ahh, "the order of the rigid digit"; "My God am I Right?"
Both are super great books, I have a great Uncle who was top turret in "Buccaneer", got shot down on another un-named plane and became POW.

What book on the 91st did you get - Plane Names & Fancy Noses?

That was the one. The 100th BG "names and art" are similarly covered in another volume by Ray Bowden. All of Ray's books are very well done and packed with in-depth info.

"Ragged Irregulars" by Havelaar & Hess is a nice one - great photos!
