I am planning to go on Sunday. Unfortunately I have other plans on Saturday, and will have to pass on the invite to the get-together at Mike's - thanks for the offer. It would be great to meet some of you guys instead of just lurking on WIX and Flypast.

I really hope the long range forecast is wrong though!! Saturday looks fantastic, but Sunday is likely to be raining. JUST MY LUCK!! Oh well. Hopefully the met folks are wrong and we'll squeeze in a good day on Sunday. Let it rain Monday!!

Also coming up is the Battle of Britain ceremony at the CAM, scheduled for September 18. Not really an airshow, but I really think that the CAM is a better venue for photography - the sun is at your back and the flight line is really close. I got some great shots of SL721 in blue there a few years back. I suspect that at least 1 unit of the Potter Air Force will be present at that event as well.

Here's hoping the weather holds!!!

Charles

You are correct about the sun, but that darn chain link fence is a pain in the neck! Also the museum building itself gets in the way. Often a pass is started on one side of the building then it comes around the corner and... SURPRISE there is the plane! The plane is gone by the time you raise your camera.

The CAvM is not my favorite place for ground to air photography. Some great taxy shots can be had at Carp if you stand in the right place.

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Yeap, lousy translation from my brain there Mike.

I meant the crew supper! I do not yet know if I'm flying or not, I'll check with airboss when I get there.

And the Harvard is RCAF20352, C-GQBQ...

Ollie,

Key at CAM is to be in the right place. You're right though, depending on where you are the sight lines can be awful and the fence is a pain. Being in the right place on Canada Day has rewarded me with some great shots.

But hey, when there's a Spifire flying past you won't hear me complain!!

Hope to see you on Sunday

Charles

Erm, Charles, that was Mike complaining about the bad angles at the CAvM...

I'll be there on the 18th too, on the other side of the runway though!

I was looking for a WIX group photo so you would be able to recognize us. I haven't kept too many on Webshots. Here is one from a few years ago...

...and more earlier this year of Steve and I...

Unfortunately I don't carry a cell phone either. If you send me an email I can send you my home phone and directions.
