For the time being I am keeping it at Hooks with the B17.
(I've found that I fly a lot more if I only have to go to one airport.)

The wood in the center section was recently rebuilt, the Ranger engine is lowtime and those two factors swung the deal.

There are various crimes against A&P best practices regarding fasteners, but those are getting sorted out as we find them.

Hi,

Congratulations on your new purchase. I have enjoyed the flight time that I have got in the past.

As far as the brakes, I like them. You need to verify the fluid in the system. 99% of the time it should be automotive fluid of Dot 3 or Dot 5, not 5606. 5606 hydraulic fluid will destroy most expander tubes, by softening the rubber, swelling it and ultimately it will start leaking. Dot3 or Dot5 is OK but you can't mix the fluids. The mixed fluids will gel and gum up the system. However both fluids can have draw backs as well. You will find that Dot3 is the best paint stripper that you can find and both fluids are hydroscopic, meaning thay absorb moisture. So every few years you should change the fluid and check for internal rust in the master cylinder. Fluid colors are as follows, DOT3 is yellow to honey colored, Dot5 is purple and 5606 is red.
