I expect so. Since there aren't 150 different types in the Navy/Marine inventory at present, civil participation will be needed to make up the numbers. Which ones is anyone's guess but plenty of restored F- types.
The show, slated for Feb. 12 at North Island Naval Air Station, kicks off what will be a yearlong effort to mark the start of the Navy’s foray into the air.

The free event will also include a timeline-like display of aircraft from vintage planes to the newest fighter jets.

Yes but that doesn't mean it won't be 150 of current types, the article I read doesn't specify.
Read about it in the Dec. Pacific Flyer. Yes I too would suspect Warbirds to be in there to but nothing that I know of has been said about this event here :?:

As you say although there are no where near 150 types of aircraft in the Navy/Marine/Coast Guard inventory, I would expect that there will be multiple examples of some types (like Hornets/Super Hornets/some of the helicopter types/and other types). Even with warbirds (which I am absolutely sure are part of the planned flyby) I believe that with some types like SNJ/T-6's, T-28's, T-34's, etc. there will be multiple particpants also.

The planned flyover is one of those grandiose plans that will hopefully come together, but how varied the number of types will be and whether the total comes close to "150 aircraft" is something that remains to be seen. I remain skeptical, but cautiously optimistic that this will be a memorable mass flyover to commemorate 100 years of Naval Aviation.

The days of the "Alpha Strike" fly overs is long past I'm afraid. Two full airwings could do it though....that's 75 A/C each give or take a few spares. It would be quite a sight....and probably drive the Coronado HOA loons over the edge

There's been quite a bit posted about this event over on the Vintage forum. Curtiss Pusher replica and JN-4H Jenny (both flown by WIX members) expected to participate.

I am a new member who is the historian for the Tailhook Association and retired Naval Aviator. I have been involved with the planning for the 100th year celebration of Naval Aviation in San Diego with what seems like a growing cast of thousands. In addition to the Navy, the Marines and Coast Guard, the FAA, Midway Museum, San Diego Aerospace and Marine Leatherneck Museums, Navy Helicopter and Tailhook Associations, as well as the cities of San Diego and Coronado are all involved in making 12 February special. The Navy has put out feelers to all the civilian organizations that have historical aircraft and have received positive responses. As of now it is planned to have NAS North Island open the public. There will be aircraft static displays ( estimated at 60) on the ramp, a CVN and LHA/LPH will be open for visiting. The aerial parade is in the planning stages with the FAA. It is planned to have the slower aircraft go first with demonstrations in the bay by the Navy, Marines and Coast Guard as intermissions between flights of aircraft. The Marines will be bringing their aircraft as well as the Coast Guard who is drawing aircraft from other bases. A Navy air wing will fly by as well as a possible appearance by the Blues. The Curtiss A-1 replica from the San Diego Aerospace Museum will fly or taxi in the bay and it is possible Bob Coobough's Curtiss replica will fly also. It is planned that civilian aircraft will be in the aerial parade also. It should be a good day and viewing from North Island, Coronado or the San Diego side should be great for photographers as the planes will fly right up the bay. As the planners have said there will be aircraft all over the place at the civilians fields and Miramar. No planes will fly out of North Island. So for the long answer to a short question.

That would be a great time to have lunch at the Island Prime or the Harbor House. Better yet get a room at the Hilton Harbor, Bay side and have front row seats to it all....

We are indeed taking Frank Schellings 1918 Curtiss JN-4H "Hisso" Jenny. She will be on static display at North Island. It appears (at this point) that we will not be flying her at all. This airplane is an original not a replica. This means that we need grass to fly her from, and that's not an option at North Island.

I would love to take the replica 1918 Macchi M-5 flying boat (and fly her from the water of the bay) but no funding has been offered to ship her out from Michigan. She has folding wings, so it wouldn't be difficult to get her there. The first Congressional Medal of Honor (for an aviation related event) was given to a US Navel Aviator who was flying a Macchi M-5 in combat in WWI (before Rickenbacker and the US Army got one).

It should be a great event, and we're looking forward to it.

Wouldn't a 100 plane fly-over be more appropriate?

You schedule for 150 and then get 100 to show due to mechanical problems, weather, pilot availability, etc.
