Gosh Chris, I sure am sorry to hear about Clair's passing. I know how tough you must feel right now. Hang in there, and enjoy the memories. You'll always have those.

I sure appreciate you introducing him to me at Oshkosh. Seemed like a heck of a great guy.

Take care my friend,

Steve

Here are some pics of Clair through the years during some of our adventures in aviation.

Here is about the time I started in at AH

Up to joking around with a CAP after he told her he planned on touching all of the aircraft.

Every year we would get all of our family and friends together at his house, and have a big cookout the night before we left for Oshkosh. This was dring one of those cookouts

Gen. Yeager, myself, and Clair at Oshkosh. Yeager seemed to enjoy joking around with Clair about new technology when my friends camera wouldn't work. Meeting Yeager was a very big event for Clair and myself.

Very sad to hear of Clair's passing. It was always a great time wondering around the Airventure grounds with him. Rest in peace Clair.

I just got home from one of the viewings and was shocked and honored to find out that his family read this thread and are very touched by all of your comments. He is greatly missed already.

Clair's funeral was yesterday. He would be proud to know his family and I placed his favorite hat( a blue EAA baseball cap), an AirVenture coin that Zachary gave all of us, and a few other items in with him. Now it's time to carry on his legacy. Thanks to all of you that have offered such kind words and support.

Instead of flowers, Clair's family had people donate to the EAA Young Eagles. Here is one of the future pilots that we took up.
