In Memoriam...Robert Resling

It was with great sadness that I learned this morning from Paul Gordon of the passing of Colorado warbird pilot and owner Robert Resling, who passed away in his sleep at his 2nd residence in California. Bob was a great and funny guy who owned a T-28 and an N3N and while I did not know him well, we always talked at airshows and he once took me for a spin in his T-28 here in Greeley and we paralleled a large brewing storm that was headed for Greeley, a rather bumpy ride! Bob always had time for folks, encouraged the young-my most recent encounter with him at the Platte Valley airpark last spring had him lifting my friend Denise's Granddaughter up on the wing of the T-28 and plopping her in the cockpit so she could see it-and he wanted folks to love aviation as much as he did. I'll see if I can scrounge up a photo of him for this thread unless someone else beats me to it.

Robert, you will be missed around here....Tailwinds, Bro.

Good stuff, Paul....I don't remember that T-28 being that CLEAN....

Condolences to his family at this especially difficult time of year. Losing anyone at any time of the year is hard enough, but RIGHT before X-mas....wow. At least he went in his sleep, hopefully peacefully.

Thanks for starting this thread, guys. My dad will be missed... IS missed, already.

I'm keeping folks updated on the whereabouts of a service over on his facebook page. I'll also post a note here if that's helpful? He was cremated, so I think we're trying to hold off a service until January so we can make it through the holidays and clear our heads a little.

Very sorry for your loss Emily. I can only imagine how tough this must be for you. I never knew your father, but he sounded like a wonderful chap. Please take care.

Emily, please convey my condolences to the rest of your family for me....your Dad was a great guy, always fun to see out on the ramp at fly-ins and airshows, always great to talk to....and I've been seeing him at airshows since I fiirst got into them seriously back around the late 80's/early 90's. I'll never forget my T-28 ride with him and on a humorous side note, I always thought it was funny when he came up scarce looking for help to start the N3N with the hand crank...it was a temperamental beast and wore down more than a few folks who tried to crank it to start it, from what I gathered.
