Famous Press Comment Upon Arrival in England

Tue Nov 30, 2010 2:19 pm

I've been Googling around looking for a video of the famous comment made when the Army Air Forces arrived in England - something similar to, "We'll do more talking once we've done more fighting".

Can anyone provide the date, speaker, and link to the video?

Murphy's Law - within an hour of posting my question on WIX, I found the answer. The quote was actually made my Gen Haywood Hansell upon his arrival at Saipan in a B-29. What a classic line.

Then-Brig. General Eaker made a very similar statement early on in England, at a civic function when he was asked to speak--"We won't do much talking until we've done more fighting. After we've gone, we hope you'll be glad we came."
