A large F-86 gathering at Thunder would be awesome. Maybe get some Mig 15s and do sort of a Korean Tora disply with them.

No problem! As you'd not specified which, I just joined the two bits up. :)

We would like to do an F-86 gathering at THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN sometime in the future, but I'm not totally familiar with all the currently active flying F-86's, or all the ones that are under restoration to active flying condition.

Vintage Wings of Canada's Sabre would be intrested in attending a Sabre gathering in the future.

Charlie Gillespie and the CAF High Sierra Sqdn have the CAF F-86 under restoration at Reno Stead Airport.... webpage info is http://www.highsierrasquadron.com There are photos of both the N3N and the F-86 in a slide show format...... About 2-3 more years before this Sabre is ready to "Rattle" again........ this was a former flyer with Bill Law in Texas and was actually flying at Airsho' one year..... It later went north.... and now is out west..... Alan

I see that in the 2011 schedule for Hawk One, that just as in 2010 the Hawk One Sabre is scheduled for one U.S. appearance (Tacoma, WA, July 3-4). In 2010 the one U.S. appearance was at Oshkosh. If Thunder Over Michigan does an F-86 gathering in 2012 (as part of a Korean War theme??) or in a another future year, hopefully Ypsilanti/Belleville, Michigan can be a U.S. appearance that year (it is near the Canadian border as are Tacoma and Oshkosh.

Another must in 2012 or other year for a Sabre gathering in Michigan would be "The Horsemen" team with 3 F-86 Sabres (The team is debuting a Sabre demo at 3 locations this year (Quonset, RI, Houston, TX and Sacramento, CA).

Love that P-26 ! 95 Pursuit Squadron Kicking Mules ! Later one of the Doolittle Squadrons as the 95 BS, 17th BG !

How about a North American jet show ? Maybe someone can pry a Viggie loose from the Navy !

There are about 7 F-86E/F and 1 F-86K in Honduras for sale by the air force. They last flew around the 80's,and the big talk it's that a particular group have plans to restore one of them to flying condition in the future.

Meanwhile, work has been going on in an attempt to restore a Super Mystere B2 to flying condition. Here's a recent photo of the aircraft in mention:

It will be good to see the Colorado paint scheme when done. The inlet may have been polished.

Thanks for sharing the photos and the information on the planned restoration. I love hearing that another group is planning on restoring a Sabre to flying status and I look forward to hearing more about this in the future.

Thanks for sharing the link from your earlier post. I love the "Minute Men" F-86 Sabre paint scheme, and I can't wait to see the restoration when it's finished. That will be a fantastic Sabre to see on the air show circuit.

Thread drift, but I would love to see a geneology tree of the aviation industry showing who merged, who folded, etc. A brief mental inventory says almost much everyone in the military/commercial business has distilled down to Lockmart, Boeing, and Grumman.

Don't forget Bell Textron, Sikorsky, Raytheon/Beechcraft, and Gulfstream.
