Hi,

My wifes father is from Natal, Brazil. They have a house there, and when we landing there at the old NAS Natal, BR air field (now the international airport) we passed the Military side of the field. The Brazilian Air Force is still active and they have parked out side a B-25J and an A-26. I went with my father in law and we got on the base so I could take some pictures. I can post them, if any one is interested.

The date of the image 'Brazil, October 28, 2010' is below the picture. The photo was taken in a museum / collection, hence the other historic types.

While not all dates are reliable as taken (rather than uploaded) on Airliners Net, it has all the hallmarks of a digitally created image, making in <2000 or so. If you click on the photographer's name, you can see other images taken on the same date of other museum aircraft.

I've skimmed over the P-47 Warbird Registry and noticed quite a few in Brazil. Nice to see 45-49151 aka B4 still humming.

This is the P-47 in mention at the museum in Rio,year 2006:


Just like the brazilians,the guys at the air museum in Honduras constantly turn the engine on the F4U-5 hoping to give it a test run sometime in the future.
Also,a Super Mystere is being restored to flying condition,with already 2 engine runs in the last 3 weeks,and future talks of possibly a F-86E also being restored to flying conditions.

Are any of the P-47's flown down there in South America? Are there plans to fly any of them?

What about the Corsair, same question?

I don't know about the brazilian P-47,but about the honduran Corsair,that one absolutely will not go airborne since it's considered a national patrimony,and if they get it running,most likely will be used at airshows for taxiing runs.

Sorry about the long delay in sending these pictures. The B-25 was the only airplane on display, The B-26 Invader was behind a tall fence and all I could see was the tail. I will be back there in a few months and if they have the A-26 pushed out, I will take some pictures and post. The plaque in the photo is translated as follows. North American B-25. Used by the 5th wing from 1947 to 1957 for the training of bomber pilots. Hours flown in Natal: 50,088.30 hours.
