H-19

Thu Jun 09, 2005 9:27 pm

The H-19 is part of the Connecticut Air & Space Center's collection of airframes. They are not yet open, but they are slowly restoring items to put on display when the museum is finally allowed to open. It is currently housed in the old Vought Corsair Modification hangar across the street from the airport. The US Army still owns the property, and title will be given to the museum building and site once the entire plant is given to the Town of Stratford. Plans are to level the entire former Vought-Sikorsky/Avco/ Army Engine Plant and develop the site. sad to see history get plowed under, but it is a very large building and of no use to the Army of the Town.

Airdale:

Tks for the info/data on this bird & the future CT museum!

Jaldo tried to capture every flying creature/components at the CT Air Show. Any idea why the 2 diff S/ns on the ID data plate and the S/N stenciled outside? What is the history of this bird? Tks H-19 buff/FAH 619

I have been posting some Corsair Gathering shots over on the Key Publishing forums under 'Historic Aviation', and will continue to do so (since I am not savvy on how to do it here) so I wanted to let you folks know so you could see them....they will come in at a trickle for now as my vacation to the Gathering and beyond has somewhat tapped my funds for now, but I will continue to post as more rolls of film are developed..so check back!!

Brilliantly done folks. Almost as good as Jaldo!

Except for a minor detail. FAH 602 Buno 124447 was at Aero-Traders S. Calif in full restoration c. 1982-1987. Pics coming -up.

We admit... that we have to do some digging on this one. Std by! C/w.com F4U buff/FAH619®
