In "Pearl Harbor" the most unlikely shot had to be the guy getting out of the C-47 and his buddies coffin coming out right behind him.

And there is a skydiving handrail above the door. BTW: Is it a C-47 or was it a DC-3?
Even a real C-47 wityh the ubiquitous D-Day stripes would have been better.

Yes, Dark Blue World was very good, I hadn't thought of that.
But like the Hughes story, The Aviator, I didn't consider that an airplane film.

Please, please, no Josh Hartnett. We already got one stinker war movie from him with the awesomely horrible "Pearl Harbor". One chance is enough, IMO.

He did fine in Blackhawk Down - probably one of the most accurate military movie attempts made in a long time.

I hadn't heard that Cruise was working on an AVG film. A few years back he was attached to a Battle of Britain project with the working title "The Few," but that seems to have faded into oblivion.

How about someone like Daniel J. Travanti? The guy who played the Precinct Captain in 'Hill St. Blues' as Chennault? He's pretty tall, has a craggy face and a rather hooked nose, plus he just oozes 'self important, egotistical, mine don't smell attitude'.

And we could get George Kennedy to play the gruff but sympathetic head mechanic...with a name like........Petroni!

Need someone steely eyed, and tough, preferably with a craggy weathered face. A slightly younger Tommy lee Jones comes to mind.

blasphemy!! an abomination!! to cast baldwin as doolittle. he needed alot more scalp & less height & girth. i may not sleep that well tonight if i think about baldwin's portrayal of doolittle, let alone the rest of the sucko "bowel movie ment" of that wasted piece of celluloid!!

Everyone is worrying about Tom Cruise playing a part in one film, but no-one has spotted the really worrying thing, John Woo is directing the other one. YIKES!!

Years ago, I heard through the EAA magazine that Connie Edwards had several Spanish 109s in lieu of pay for his flying in "Battle of Britain" maybe things are better now flying for movies.

Regarding the Buchons mentioned, my understanding is that Edwards and his fellow American pilots had bought four Buchons at the disposal auction before filming began and as the film company wanted the aircraft to take part in the film they hired the four aircraft and the US pilots for the shoot. Did Edwards and co get paid with additional Buchons on top of the ones they already owned? Or is the above quote wrong?

I'm still waiting on "Red Tails" sounds like they have run into major issues and Lucas is rewriting it! Which means more reshooting and major editing. Anyone have the inside scoop on that one? It has been too quiet...
Then there is the "Dambusters" remake...any word?

Regarding the Edwards Spanish 109, here is link to its history with EAA.

It does not go into much detail, but does mention the A/C was acquired by Edwards after the filming.
I have also heard from people involved of a griffon engine that was to be overhauled that was returned to the US
with parts missing, suspected removed to support flying A/C for "Battle of Britain", a P-40 that was to be restored for use
in "Tora Tora Tora" that had parts swiped to support flying A/C, and a B-25 cut in half for a 15 second shot in "Hanover Street".
(This A/C may have been owned by the film company however).
