Have any of you recorded piston / vintage engines on audio tape? By way of introduction, I am Dave, and have recorded aircraft since 1972. That includes first generation jets as well as DC-3,DC-4 Convairliners B25 ect, I have seen the work of many photographers, and am amazed. But the sound of a radial or inline liquid cooled, early generation jet, these sounds are being lost every year. A good example was the last flight of the C-124 where one set of engines were used to move 2 aircraft. no one recorded the startup on the ground, and no one recorded the flight onboard. That opportunity was lost forever. Please contact me if this is something that you have done as well. It would be great if perhaps a sound library could be created. I don't know much about that but thanks to the movie Strategic Air Command we have the sound of the mighty B-36. I remember it well from back in the days and it's great to play it time and time again.
