My flight and rental car are booked. I am planning my travel itinerary so hotels are next.

So who will be there? A P-38 gathering is a fairly big draw. I am looking forward to it.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

The silence on this subject is deafening. I would have thought a P-38 gathering would generate more interest.

Daveroo,
I will be the pale skinned Canuck wearing a while long sleave shirt and Tilly hat carrying a black back pack sytle camera bag. I opted for the VIP ticket package, but I will certainly be out and about and will keep my eyes open for you. It is always nice to meet another WIX member in person.

WIX'er Meet-Up

Just to clarify (one more time!) the WIX'ers will be meeting up close to the P-38's after the show is over ?? That should be late afternoon possibly 1500 or 1600 hrs. Maybe someone will have a WIX sign in place...

In any case according to the local weather report the temperature should be in the mid to high 80's for Saturday and clear sky. So dress approptiately! The reflected sun off of the white concrete ramp can be treacherous. High SPF advised.

Mike: Thanks for the run down on your attire. I'll keep my eye out for the Tilley hat and the long sleeve shirt. Look for my RAN Sea Fury "T" shirt and 'Aussie Warbird's' baseball cap.
I'll be driving over from San Jose early Sat (~ 2.0 hr trip)

John

Four P-38 showed. Glacier Girl, Honey Bunny, Thoughts of Midnite and Ruff Stuff. One other I heard had a cracked cylinder and did not show. Heard that the one from Oregon did not come because Reno had dropped funding and Sacramento could not fund the additional cost. Oregon wanted full dollar while others dropped cost or came free.

Anyway thay put on a great show! Two of them flew with the F-22 Raptor for the AF Heritage Flight scene.

Lot of other great aircraft there and a fine show. Will post pix when I have time.

Ken

I posted a few pics from the gathering in the Photos section. I shot HD video walkarounds of all four Lightnings; will try to get those posted later.

Sorry I missed everyone! It sometimes gets a little busy!
BTW, last year "Glacier Girl" did fly. Steve Hinton flew it as a solo acro and in the heritage flight with the Raptor and F-86.
