I haven't done a work-up on the history of the San Diego P-40 yet, but here is what I have so far...
ImageAerial Visuals - Airframe Dossier - Curtiss P-40E Warhawk, s/n 1064 RCAF, c/r N40FT
...and WD5 confirms this is/was the San Diego Air and Space Museum machine.

Here is the one I have noted recently arrived at Ford Island...
ImageAerial Visuals - Airframe Dossier - Curtiss P-40N Warhawk, c/r N1009N
...and again I haven't done the work-up on the history.

Both of these dossiers may contain errors as I haven't gone through them in detail yet. Having said that What I have looked at so far, seems to indicate these are two different P-40s.

I don't think I have see an ID quoted for the new Ford Island P-40. Can anyone tell me which P-40 recently arrived at Ford Island?

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

It looks like an E to me. Here it is before it left in May of this year.
This is the FedEx P-40 with the signatures of some of the Flying Tigers on its tail.

Is it possible to be one of the early N models before they adopted the cut down rear cockpit? Look at the height of the tail gear/wheel.

Not sure where you got N1009N from but that sure not in Hawaii.
That's bob Sturges old M that Tom Camp restored and his been flying
in the UK for years.
The X- SD E was also, I think, restored by Camp and went from Flying Tiger
to Fed Ex when they purchased them. I first saw it in SD in 1986. The paint job
expecially the shark's mouth reminds of the box art for the Revell P-40E 1/32 scale.
