Here is what I have in the database...
ImageAerial Visuals Locator Search - Montana

Be patient. The page sometimes take while to load. Don't be afraird to refresh if it appears stalled. I haven't had a chance to feed the monkeys running the machines at my web provider.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

There use to be a small museum and a number of outside warbirds on display at Malmstrom AFB, Great Falls which is not to far from Havre. My last visit was in 1999 and the museum was still open at that time.

My first assignment following Radio school was at the Great Falls AFB, (now Malmstrom) with the 29th Air Defense Command. I beleive the base still handles missile locations throughout northern Montana.

Perhaps someone else here can expond more accuratley on the base today.

Don't know if your going to be anywhere near Polson Montana right on the southern end of Flathead lake.
But there is a really cool museum there, they have a number of ww2 vehicles and an A7 Corsair, cockpit section of an F4 Phantom and a T33.

The museum in Polson is really cool. He has a lot of military armament, uniforms and vehicles from the Revolutionary war to present. Nice display of a B-17 gunner position with all the equipment. I addition he has a really nice antique motorcycle collection. There are well over 100 cars, Indian and mountain man stuff, old snomachines etc. You could spend a full day in there easily.

I don't know how current this is: http://yellowairplane.com/Museums/montana_museums.htm

Greybull (WY!) still had a lot of derelicts last August (2009); don't know what's changed since.

It's been 16 years since I last went through Greybull...but man, that was something I'll never forget. I loved walking out through the boneyard there. Being a P-3 guy, I was very intrigued by the Neptune that they had out there which they tried to adapt the Allison T-56's from a Spanish P-3 onto. Very cool looking, and would have made an amazing performer as a water bomber.

Greybull is a looooong way from Havre. At least a day's drive.

Anyhow, there are dinosaurs in that area, so if you're out in the field and see bones, let someone know.

A couple of years ago, a Grumman F9F Panther was retrieved from Flathead Lake that had been missing since the 1950's. It had human remains. WHatever happened to the remains of both the pilot and the aircraft?
