During 1950-1954 the majority of B-25Js still in service ran through various mod, repair, inspection programs. The Hayes IRAN program ran from 1952-1954 which included in many cases the replacement of the Holly carburetor with the Bendix Stromberg PR48A carburetor and the modified "square" carb intake, collector rings, etc.

You are right, that last pictures appears to be 44-31385 now flwon as "Show Me."

Just looked at Sole Survivor on YouTube and that's definitely the Home Run nose art in your photo. Odd thing is the serial number is that of Photo Fanny, 44-30423; but according to James Farmer's book Broken Wings, the plane in the movie was one that was surplused but never had a civilian N-number.

'Can Do' is now 'Take Off Time' with Tom Duffy in NJ....the progression of names through the years was 'Bronco Bustin Bomber' becomes 'Can Do' becomes 'Buck' becomes 'Green Dragon' becomes 'Take Off Time'...roundabout the time she became Green Dragon she lost the paint scheme, about the time she was 'Buck' Wally Fisk put a top turret back on her.

The Home run was the B-25 used in the movie Sole Survivor with Vince Edwards and William Shatner.

Just looked at Sole Survivor on YouTube and that's definitely the Home Run nose art in your photo. I believe it was done when converting to TB-25N configuration.
The early inlet is for the Holley carb.
Later is a Stromberg.
I believe there is a kit to install the early inlet on a Stromberg carb.
Unsure if there was a wartime Stromberg carb and inlet version.

OK, dug up the Broken Wings book and the plane used in Sole Survivor was TB-25N 44-30979. Ed Maloney bought it surplus in '58 but never registered it. Anyone have a photo of it from before it was dressed up for the movie?

This is my first attempt at posting on WIX, I am an avid B-25 enthusiast and began my love affair when I was seven years old.
My Grandfather was an Armor/Gunner on a B-25 Modified G (former D model?) flying with the 341st Bomb Group, 491st Ringer Squadron in CBI. I have never seen a nose art photo of his airplane but he said it had a (were)wolf with a top hat, and their call sign was Foolish Sugar, If anyone has any photos please post.
Below I posted the only photos my family has from the War, the B-25's gear collapsed in Libya en route to China, the plane was repaired and they flew on to China.


I have also included photos photos while I believe he was in training, possibly South Carolina. My Grandfather, Sgt. Casimir J. Piwowarski, Sr. is shirtless on the nacelle.

Here he is with the other NCOs.


As I stated above my affair began when I was seven, the first B-25 my Grandfather took me to see was at Two Guys from Patterson, an Army Navy Store, I think it was in NY or NJ this was about '77-'78, I remember it was a solid nose with a dragon for nose art. Anyone have any pics?
