I know the Arizona Ground Crew Living History Unit folks have researched these types of AAF tents. They even found a guy who can reproduce them to the blueprints.

I lived in the one on the left for 3 weeks at Camp Matthews in Dec. 1957, too darn cold and lived in one in several months in Okinawa in 1958, 4 ranks, I liked it

Here is a photo of one of the covers in question having been adapted to a B-17 engine maintenance stand at Pratt AAF, Kansas. This and the following two photos are from a 2nd Air Force B-29 Maintenance Aids handout that was distributed throughout the 2AF training structure. The top right corner is a bit of another photo that overlaps this one on the original:


These photos are of a B-29 winterized engine stand, also taken at Pratt, but I thought it was a good place to share them:

Sorry Paul my computer died and didn't get to this. Yup, definitly out of the weather maintenance tents, there is also a 2 story tent that Armbruster tents made during the war fo working on engines ON the aircraft! We (Bill) talked to them so when we hit the lottery we would buy one to put up on a B-17!!
