Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Nice stuff Mike!

WOW! That CT-133 is bright! That front shot of the Clunk kinda reminds me of a lost puppy that followed somebody home... LOL

Two questions...

Did you happen to get a shot of the exposed structure inside the tail of the Hurricane?

and...

I'd like to ask your permission to use the shots of the Kittyhawk on my P-40 site. In addition to your watermarks I will of course give proper credit and copyright info, as well as a link to your Webshots homepage.

I haven't come across many photos of this particular Hawk and these are the nicest I've seen so far. Any more?

Apparently the Clunk is to be mounted on a pylon somewhere out front of the museum. The wings and tail are not far away in this picture.

No, but I will try the next time I am there. That is assuming it hasn't been reassembled by then.

It is a deal! If you would like the original unaltered version for resizing then rewatermarking let me know.

I do have some more, but I want to hold off on distributing those just yet. They are a part of my 1995 photo collection and once they are all done I will post them all at once. I'll let you know then, but it won't be fore a few months yet. The shots of the Hawk were taken outside.

Hi Peter--

Beaufighter RD867 came to NAC (as it then was, now CAvM) in 1969 from the RAF, minus engines/props/cowls that had been removed after RD867 was displayed at the famous 1968 RAF Jubilee Review at Abingdon. The museum's intention has always been to complete the Beau using original components, but such have proven very difficult to come by, and in any case NAC/NAM/CAvM have always had other project aircraft that are higher priority; poor old RD867 never makes it to the top of the list! Unfortunate but understandable. What has perplexed me over the years, though, is that the Beau has always been stored outdoors. That, I assume, though I can't see the Beau in Mike's pix, is now being rectified at last. I don't think RD867 will be restored any time soon though. (You're not thinking of trying to arrange for Nanton or Windsor to take her on as a project, are you...?? Either group has access to a Lanc from which to mold cowls to turn RD867 into a temporary replica Mk.II... )

Cheers

S.

The Beau is now in storage as Steve hinted at. I would GUESS the plan is to store it until a restoration is possible. However... as Steve mentioned this is a daunting project since parts are hard to come by and it is, from what I have heard, a stripped out hulk. I think Steve has a great idea by making it a "temporary" Mk II.

I am a volunteer with the Project North Star Association of Canada. Whenever I have the ear of the board of directors on the subject of subsequent projects (once we are done the North Star itself) I suggest the Beau should be the next project. If you, or anyone else agrees, you might want to email PNS and ask if the next project will be the Beau. DON'T TELL THEM I SENT YOU!!! I don't want to be making any enemies!

However... keep in mind... even if PNS does get to do more than one airframe, the second one won't start until the first one is complete. Finishing the North Star will take a while. PNS needs $$$, members and volunteers with skills. Right now we will be doing well to have the exterior done for Feb 2009, the 100th anniversary of the first flight in Canada.
