I am trying to identify all the aircraft that attended the 2010 "Thunder Over Michigan" and need help with the following:
N number of the Yak 52 (?) with the nose art: "From Russia with Love"
USAF serial number of the F-16 painted in "Thunderbirds" markings and used a a recruiting tool under an inflatable cover. This airframe was brought in by truck.
Bureau Numbers of the two F/A-18s with the Hornet East Demo Team from VFA-106
USAF serial number of the B-52H that performed the flyby on Sunday, August 8th. The one on Saturday was marked "1002" which I interpret as 61-0002.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

The same B-52 did the flyby both days.

Todd, I think the F-16 T-bird colors was a mock up, not the real thing.
The B-52H was indeed 61-0002 as you questioned.
Almost positive that F/A-18 #360 was BuN. 165214 from the best I could read off a picture of mine. Didn't photo the other one.

I got the same Buno for the Hornet as Roger, But I was standing right next to him most of the day so we might be looking at the same picture.

I have completed my listing of the aircraft that participated in the 2010 "Thunder Over Michigan" Airshow. I want to thank everyone who provided information and IDs. If you would like an Adobe Acrobat pdf of this list, send me a PM.

Hey guys, a bit late here but I just found this page, and have been reading it with interest these past few days.
Been going to Ypsi shows since I was like 4 years old, now approaching my mid 40's.
Back in the day we used to watch them right at the end of the runway, of course they stopped that quite a few years back when the Blues or Tbirds were flying.
I know all the good spots around the airport - Went out there Friday, and was shocked to see what looked lie an F-100 doing passes.
I used to go to Selfridge alot as a kid and they had 100's there, and 106's ... So I've seen quite a few of these in the air, but not in decades.
Had no idea there was a flying 100, and was thrilled to see it.
Anyways, I got to my spot right off Mich ave, by a softball field.
To my dismay, the flight path seemed quite a bit west of where I was, so I thought I'd see how far towards show center they were letting the crowd on Ecorse, usually nothing west of Beck is allowed.
Much to my delight, there were no restrictions, and you could get right at the end of the runway if you'd like.
I like to stay off 50 yards or so to the side, so thats what I did and had a great view.
Was at the same spot both Sat & Sun, stayed for hours after the show to watch the planes depart.
Great show, I was wondering why the Lib pulled out of the line and landed, now I know from reading this thread.
Wasn't able to see the BUFF, 9am is a pretty bizarre time for a flyby ,, But I guess thats all that could be worked out.
Looking forward to next year, though the end of the runway spot will be out of the question with the Blues flying.
Together with the Selfridge Tbird show, should be a good summer for shows.
I pray the F22 demo can be secured for one of both of the shows, saw it at Battle Creek this summer and it performs quite a stunning show - I'm sure its in heavy demand though.
Hats off to all you guys who make this show possible, and to the people who posted pics here, great job.
I stopped years ago taking cams to shows, started taking away from my enjoyment of the show too much.

I know tickets are not cheep but it supports the museum and the airshow. If you enjoy the show as much as you seem to and want to see it for years to come it takes money and support. Even if you don't go in to the grounds during the show purchasing a ticket to the show or a museum membership might be a great way to help the event out. IJS

True, and I have donated to YAM, many times.
Viewing the shows from outside airports/bases is more or less a tradition for me and my airplane nut uncles.
The view of the flying craft is far & away much better than anyone inside can hope to get, for obvious reasons.
Up until 10 years ago or so, we would typically go in for 1 day, and watch it from outside another, and the fly in/practice day.
That pretty much stopped when they instituted the, in my view, drastic cooler restrictions.
We went in one year, not too long ago, within 10 years ,,, Was when the cooler restrictions first started, made me turn around and walk a mile back to the car and put it back, I was dumbfounded. And for some reason they had the crowd on the hot tarmac.
Very hot day, no shade to be had, $5 water, and forced to spend hours on hot asphalt - We didn't have a very good time, had some kids with us and they were absolutely miserable, begging to leave. We found a crowded little patch of grass and squatted in the shade of some porta johns, for the sake of the over heating kids. We vowed next time to watch it from outside, where we could eat & drink what we want when we want, get a little shade, and lay out on the grass and enjoy a close view of flying aircraft - And have done just that every since.
I realize the cooler restrictions are not unique to Willow, all shows have banned them pretty much since 9/11.
And I hope the crowd on the asphalt thing was a one time anomaly that has since been remedied.

A nice 14 page pictorial on this year's show in the current issue of Air Classics Magazine - Volume 46
Number 11.
Cheers,

Thanks for the heads up Tom.
What is the status of the London airshow these days ?
Years back, we used to hit those shows religiously, every year.
Great, great shows there, some of the best I have ever seen. They had their themes too, only it was modern jets there.
One year they had about 20 F-15E's, another year it was F-16's.
B-1's & B-52's on static, and just about every jet in the inventory, many of them flying.
Last time I saw an F-111 it was there, put on a great show.
I seem to recall that Molson dropped their sponsorship and the show fizzled out.
Has there been any revival ?
