Its time again for the annual DFW Wing Fly-in at the Lancaster Airport (KLNC) in Lancaster, Texas. Gates will open at 10am and there will be warbirds on the ramp. The B-25 Yellow Rose along with Ol'927 and many others will be giving rides, so come one come all. There will also be the Russian Mi-2A and the Mi-24 flying as well. Hope to see you all there...

I will be there wearing my orange shirt and hat! Look for me. Particularly if you are a pilot that I am marshalling!

Gear is fine....indicator lights were/are funky....parts are ordered ....no safety issues involved.
flaps slightly droopy........looking for something binding cable from flap handle or control push/pull thingie under panel to replace. But just happened on flight back Wed. from fixing gear stuff...so I need to check.
Should not prevent travel to LNC with my always interesting landings.

I have a little connection with the CAF folks at Lancaster. Years ago Ray and I were on our way back from probably Sun N Fun or somewhere down south. We may have been planning to stop on Breckenridge or Dalhart, can't recall for sure. The weather got bad ahead and it was getting toward evening so we landed at Lancaster. We may not have even know that the CAF was there. I didn't really ask to put the Spitfire in the hangar, but they had room and offered so we did. I appreciate their hospitality. Some how we were loaned a car or got a rental or a cab, not sure, but we stayed in Dallas overnight. That night a huge thunderstorm hit, with wind and torrential rain. There was no real damage to the hangar, but a tornado hit right downtown just a few miles from the airport and killed at least one person when a building collasped.

April 25, 1994, I remember that night and the following days well. We lost a lot of the town that day (in terms of buildings, history, and long time residents who left because their houses were destroyed). 3 killed (none directly by the tornado - 1 heart attack, 1 auto accident, 1 building collapse afterward) and 48 more injured (including one man who was impaled by a 2x4 in the chest). It was a scary event with 3 tornadoes simultaneously on the ground.
