The sole survivor has just gone on display at the TAM Museum Brazil, christened 'Jahu' it is the aircraft flown by Barros from Europe to Sth America in 1927.

I believe your thinking of De Pinedo's earlier visit in 1927 of the S.55 "Santa Maria" delayed by a fire during refueling

A great picture!
25 aircraft left Orbotello, but one of them crashed during landing at the stop in the Netherlands, killing one of the crewmembers... The aircraft were flying in groups, each aircraft was marked with balls or stars on the tailplanes, in different colors .
