Thanks Paul for helping to spread the word about CanMilAir Decals. I have been wanting to post a few messages here in WIX as I know there are a lot of potential contacts surfing through here on a regular basis, but I didn't want to make it look too much like a simple advertisement of my services. Not even sure if that would be frowned upon or not by the mods. I asked regular WIXer Al Sauer (aka "spookythecat") his opinion and while he was enthusiastic, he was unsure where such a post should be placed. So I have procrastinated until I decided what to do. Since you brought CanMilAir up in the post, I thought I would take a stab at letting everyone know a bit more about CanMilAir Decals and what I can offer. Sorry if this all seems too promotional.
I started CanMilAir Decals (I often shorten it to CMAD) in the summer of 2005 and originally my target customers were scale model builders. I have created a catalogue of over 500 scale decal sets for those modellers building replicas of Canadian military aircraft. I haven't counted lately, but I believe the total is for about 120 various aircraft types dating from 1920's to today - all (except about a half-dozen) are Canadian or have a Canadian connection.
By the time Paul approached me the only "full-size" work I had done was to supply full size vector graphic artwork to an Museum of Flight in Langley BC, who needed to repaint their CF-104 Starfighter. They used my artwork to cut stencils and spray paint the CF markings back on the 104. I sent them that artwork free of charge as I thought it was a one-off job and there wouldn't be any continuing demand for such a service. My first wrong assumption!
It was Paul who really started a facet of CMAD that now occupies about 25% of my business activities! Thus far, I have provided Canadian or American markings in solid vinyl, removable vinyl spray paint masks and vinyl digitally printed graphics for the T-33, F-86, F-104, CF-100 and one Mini Cooper. Apart from the principle markings and national insignias, I have also developed a full suite of service/maintenance markings for the Canadair CT-133 Silver Star (T-33) and the Canadair Sabre 6 (F-86).
Rather than bore you all with it here, I invite you to look though my "Warbird Restoration" page where you can read more about the images (teasers?) I've included above and some of the other projects I've done. I always try to show a "before" and "after" photo to show how much work has been done to the aircraft.
