This afternoon I heard a sound of mellow round engines overhead and looked up to see 21 DC-3/C-47s coming across Oshkosh in nice blue sunny skies. They came around in a stream from west to east, then left downwind, left base over Bassler, then final approach to runway 17, which went right over the warbird area. I had been in seminars that morning, had another to go to, when I got a feeling or a hunch that I wanted to be outside and I am glad I did and didn't miss that sight. They landings seemed to go on for 10 minutes, and they seemed just right, the right shape, the right sound, the right speed. There were a couple on the ground already and three came later and dropped some jumpers, one with a big U S flag, so I don't know the exact total, but probably more than 25 are here.
