Sweet! Wish I was 6 years old, this is what I'd be begging my parents to get. Would be nice to have some plans made so that others can build it, and it's a cool way to get the newest generation enthused about warbirds.

I wonder, does anyone else think this may be the "Kids" secret Wildcat?

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

No offense meant.

No doubt about it, it's ellice_island_kid's secret project! I hope the kids don't find any bullets in the fuselage though. :D

After all, he's makes a lot of money, so he can afford those types of playtoys!

Yea, you're right. Ellice_island_kid does owe us an apology. E_i_k, we'll accept your apology if you come clean with us.

If it was A2C, HarvardIV, etc... I would've thought he would be back to defend himself by now. What if we just ran off a real Wildcat project?

Not necessarily. I have no sympathy, because ellice_island_kid brought it all on himself. It was HIS actions, HIS declarations, and HIS unsupported claims that brought all the unwanted criticism towards him. Even Randy (Hacker) - one of our most level-headed forum members who normally doesn't get involved in disputes unless he is directly attacked - is making fun of him. For him to do that, it has to be bad. You have to remember that Chris has already been banned twice. He would want to lay real low now because of all the unwanted negative associations with his new username and not risk being banned a third time. In addition, e_i_k has been accused of being Chris by many members, not just myself. If he were truly NOT Chris, you would have thought he would have gone out of his way to prove his identity and deny the accusations. E_i_k has not denied being Chris.

I don't know if this forum software has it, but many have the capability of recording a person's IP address every time they log in. If Scott still has the records from HarvardIV and A2C, it would be relatively simple to compare that to e_i_k's log-in IP. Even if it didn't match, that still doesn't necessarily prove anything, because there are ways to get around that. If e_i_k is really a computer engineer like he claims, then identity spoofing for him would be mere child's play.

Even if ellice_island_kid is legit - which I don't believe he is - is he really a positive, worthwhile contributer at WIX? In his short time here as e_i_k, he has generated nothing but negativity, contempt and conflict. Is the trade-off of having some basic information and possibly pictures of a not-particularly-rare warbird worth driving off other warbird owners and operators from this forum because of his actions and words? I say no, IMO.

Somehow, I don't think we've heard the end of e_i_k. He'll be back in one form or another. His personality is distinctly characteristic, so he'll be easily identifiable.

My 2 cents, FWIW!

I'm pretty sure it wasn't A2C. A2C had more respect and had a brain. Thats all I'll say.

Besides the fact that it's an FM-1 and not a -2, I think Lex is right.

I'd bet my left ah...arm that this is it. I'm pretty sure that this FM-1 saw combat with VMF-441 out of Funafuti or Nanomea. According to my data base, FM-1 BuNos 15388 and 15395 were assigned to VMF-441 out of Funafuti and Nanomea and were lost on 1 Sep 43 and 6 Nov 43 respectively. So it is a pretty safe bet that this FM-1 (BuNo 15392) was a VMF-441 Combat Veteran as well.

One of us here needs to snatch that bird up quick before somebody with 100 grand makes a bid on it.

Mac

Is this a one-off or did somebody make these commercially?

When I was a kid a friend had a fully operational small tanks - treads and all - ... I always wondered the same thing: was it a very hand or well-to-do father?
