WOW

I've seen it fly twice before, never seen it on the ground though. This is going to be awesome!

Website has been updated today, with some nice new additions, including a few that haven't been mentioned yet. Gonna be a fantastic show this year!! Excellent news on the F-100, my first as well!

From ASB Yesterday:

All,
We spoke with the Collings Foundation and their goal is to still get the ME-262 to Thunder Over Michigan. HOWEVER, they also said that as each day goes by the likelihood of it's appearance becomes less.
In the end, the only concern is the safe operation of this aircraft and if it is not ready in time, then we will press on knowing that the Collings Foundation did everything within their control to debut it at Thunder.
Regards,
Kevin

This is true for Chuckie as well. Even though we ran all 4 engines on her last weekend, we found some issues with the landing gear last night when we jacked her up to do the gear portion of the 100 hour and those issues are regrettably going to prevent us from being B-17 #9 at Thunder. We have not flown in over 2 years and working these gear issues is not going to leave us enough time to get everything else done on the airplane, and get crews recurrent, AND do a couple of shakedown flights before flying across the country to Michigan.

Trust me, no one is more disappointed that we are at the Vintage Flying Museum. We were really looking forward to making the Gathering of Fortress's our debut air show, what could have been better?

We are still pressing on towards flying, we just won't be ready before August 6th. I apoligize to everyone out there that was pulling for us, thank you for your support. Like Tom said, the only concern is the safe operation of this aircraft. Please keep checking our thread in the Retroaviation Maintenance Hangar for updates on when we will start flying again. Hopefully it will be very soon. We would really like to catch at least one or two shows in the local North Texas area this year.

Thanks again for the update on Chuckie. It's sad that she won't get to visit her siblings at the family reunion, but comforting to be assured that she will take to the skies when she's ready.

On another note, any word on Fuddy Duddy from the Lyon Air Museum?

Will the F-100 be participating in the airshow either day? I have seen a few over the years on display but have never had the opportunity to see one in the air (i'm only 29)
Also I am new to the forum and am a new member of one of the restoration groups bringing parts to the show.

Here's to good weather for the weekend

James

Yes its flying each day and a change per ASB the super hornet demo team is unable to make it so they are sending the F/A-18C East team instead.

From ASB:

QUOTE(Kevin Walsh @ Jul 23 2010, 10:54 PM)
Added today, a KC-10A Extender from the 305th Air Mobility Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
The KC-10A will be static. It's lineage extends back to a B-17 bomb group and squadron.
Regards,
Kevin

Your making it too easy for the Fighters Guys on the East Coast to attend.

The tanker can drag em up, and drag em back.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Is the actual event at Yankee AF or Willow Run? I was just asked that by a B-17 vet who wants to attend. It's my first time and I didnt'' know the answer.
