So on the Airventure website they show a PB4Y-2 in Aeroshell square. What plane is going to be there? I didn't realize any were actively flying yet.

Hi All,

I am new to the forums but not to warbirds, however I had a question that needed specific answers and I was referred to you all to see if you can help me.

Last year at Oshkosh I was overhearing a T-28 driver. He noted something about flights in the aircraft. He said to arrive at the warbirds area (not sure if it was the warbirds tower, or what) and do so around 7:00am. He said that there is a list you can get your name on. Basically that list, he says, if any of the aircraft go up to do formation flights, photo ops, etc, they will put you in a backseat, granted if there is an open seat and you are on the list.

I was wondering about this because it extremely interested me. Could any of you guys shead some more light on this? All help is appreciated.

Looking forward to OSHKOSH yet again! I'm packing now! :D

Thanks,

Best Regards,
-Luke

The Privateer is in Tanker 121 livery, I believe it is owned by a fellow named Joe Shoen, and will be flown in by Woody Grantham and Bob West. This is all I know about it.

Looks like it's going to be pretty wet up there! Hope it dries out enough for WIXers and warbirds.

While I won't be making the trip to Oshkosh this year unfortunately, it appears that the gaggle of C-47/DC-3s is making a stop about an hour from here (Sterling/Rock Falls IL) starting today. I've seen it said that they are arriving at OSH on the 26th, but does anyone know when they'll be leaving Sterling?

EDIT: Found the info. Looks like I'll try to go hang out in Sterling on Monday!

Not bad, unless you are outside. Then they're bad. Very bad. Or maybe it's just my sweet Iowa blood they crave. Bring some OFF or deet when you come - you'll need it!

It is pretty wet up here. We were joking last weekend that we could put a PBY in the Warbird Campground, with its landing gear retracted...

We're supposed to get hit pretty bad again tonight. Just what we need.

Question for you photogs.

What iso and f-stop work well for recording the night aerobatic show? I have to shoot film 'cause I don't have a wide-angle for my digimonster.

Thanks for the help. Off is already packed!

As of 5pm Friday, OSH is almost a swamp with more rain coming. Very few a/c are being allowed to park on the grass.

Vlado,

Will arrive with our two-ship after/around/in-between the raindrops this afternoon. Maintenance logistics crew bringing bark chips, rain boots, plywood sheets and pressure washer but my crew chief's having trouble keeping them focused...

Also bringing you the Royal Family's finest #16 along with humidified Monte Christo Churchill...should go a long way to solve the water problem. My ACE mentor is wise, force is strong...leads me to the red crown. :finga:
