Anything in Bend, Oregon?

Thu Jul 15, 2010 8:34 pm

At some point this summer I am going to be in that town for a couple of days on business and will have more than a little time on my hands. Anything interesting in the immediate area that I shouldn’t miss? I will be in a company car so suggesting anything outside the immediate area (or at the end of a rough road) will be of no use to me.

Isn't McMinnville fairly close by there? If so a stop at the Evergreen Museum would be pretty cool.

Tillamook has a nice museum in WWII blimp hanger, but it's even further away than McMinnville.

The only item that comes to mind is the Redmond Airport (about 20 miles north of Bend). They have a selection of old Douglas prop airliners DC-4 -6 & -7 (+ surplus C-130's) that are coverted to borate bombers. If you are flying commercai to Bend you'll probably land at this airport anyway.
