Well, we sort of had something that could have flown between Apollo and the Shuttle.....
There were some left over capsules and parts for both Apollo 18 and 19. I believe one is at Houston and the other at Kennedy.
This brings up the question: What will be done with any left over shuttle tanks and SRB's?

Special mounts will be made for any hardware that is left over. They'll be put on outdoor display in harsh climates for a few decades so that they can corrode and decay. At some point a fund-raising campaign will be undertaken to save them from complete destruction and they will be restored and placed in a suitable museum. It's just how it must be done...full circle.

Ok, so does anyone know how many extra tanks and SRB's there are?
I know the SRB's were supposed to be resueable, so there must be- what a pair for each shuttle? maybe 6-8?

That question would be better asked here http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?board=1.0

Trust me, if you think WIX eats up your time...

Not to be political, but I found on-line an interveiw with the current head of NASA, on Al- Jeezra TV, where he explains that a primary focus of NASA is some sort of outreach program to make "Muslim Nations" feels better about their math and science contributions to the world. I am dumb-founded...what does this have to do with "Air and Space" in the USA? They cut NASA's budget, then allocate their time away to Social Services? I never thought I would feel like the grumpy old man shocked at the world...but at 49, here I am..

Has anyone else seen this clip?: http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/f ... og-369985/

The most powerful nation military in the World doesn't retire a manned space vehicle programme without having a viable alternative in place.

It isn't old fangled fire burning rockets either and you won't read about it in the MSM for another few years yet as per numerous other known examples of black hardware programmes.

The Space station is consequently nice, but irelavent in the grand scheme of things.

Discuss.......

it does when it's running into massive debt
