I'd be interested to hear Rick H's and Dave's thoughts on this as to what they think happened.

Hi Guys,
I did hear about it and know a few of the details. I'm going to say it's best to wait until the the investigation is done. We will continue to operate our A4. One thing to note, that the ejection was successful with no injury to the crew member.
Thanks,
David

The article suggests it might've been a contractor such as ATAC (which has aircraft at PHF near my house), and not one of the beautiful, recently restored warbirds... very glad the pilot egressed successfully, sucks to lose a flying Scooter though.

Do we know the name/initials of the pilot?

It's an aircraft leased to ATAC. It is an L model, one of the recently restored Maylasian aircraft. It had been modded with the IG3 Escapac seat. Thank God it worked as advertised ! We trained all of ATAC's A-4 guys to a civilian type rating with the TA-4. I do not know who it was. They are all good guys and I consider them friends....

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Confused: Who is A-4L LLC? and I thought the Kfir guys were flying the old ATSI N models?

A4L LLC is a separate company who bought some of the Malaysian L models that were in storage in Tucson for many years. The ATSI Ns were leased by ATAC ( The KFIR guys ) until the Ls became available. They were flying three Ls now they have two. I believe that they have already returned a few of the Ns to ATSI.
