Well if it's about size....Canada is 3,851,807.61 square miles!

But as for the original topic, glad pilot is ok, and plane is repairable.
The P-39 is one aircraft after all the years I've been around airshows, that i have never seen fly.

Uh, back on the P-39 topic...

Mike (m charters), rest assured that it will be appearing at airshows again. I am heading up to Tyler Sunday to assess the damage and see if we can ferry her home after a little work. While everyone initially agreed with the ferry-if-possible plan, I'm hearing rumors that I may have to do some serious convincing to get approval now. We'll be taking detailed, high resolution pictures an making lots of measurements. I'll get as much info out here as I can as soon as I can. In the meantime, I'm still desperately seeking main landing gear wheels....

Also, just posted some P-63 news on the P-39/P-63 thread.

I'm sure Ray will have a better report soon. Right now he's working on bringing a plan together. I flew five of us up to Tyler in the Mockingbird (U-11) yesterday. The folks at the HAMM are some wonderful people, and their museum is simply beautiful! Oh, and a fantastic burger (and other good eats) at the cafe there in the old terminal as well.

It appears we have been very blessed as the damage to the plane is relatively light. Good thing they were built tough! I think it will be back in the air a lot sooner than some might think, but that's just my opinion as a pilot, but I think the Cobra Den Maintenance Team would agree.

Speaking of the Cobra Den, I'm taking orders for the shirts now. Please reply on the P-39/P-63 thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=31659 if you would like me to order one for you.
