The aircraft has been painted in a Bicentennial theme, comemmorating the 200th anniversary of the American Revolution. Note that the F-4J is fitted with an infra-red seeker under the radar cone normally only used on the F-4B/N.

HC-11 is assigned to the fast combat support ship USS Rainer (AOE 7) and is conducting a regularly scheduled deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

VAW-116 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 8 (CVW-8) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN-68) for a deployement to the Mediterranean Sea from 7 July 1976 to 7 February 1977. Note the bicentennial markings on top of the radome.
