I normally would never think of posting something like this, but it completely blew me away. I figure that if it grabbed me so thoroughly, then somebody else will be equally happy to see it. It's a very nicely executed ride-a-long via helmet cam of a Navy hot rock in a T-45 shooting off a carrier, and coming back aboard. Next best thing to being the GIB.

(For all those who know even less than I, GIB means "Guy In Back".)

That was really cool! Thanks for that!

I've seen a lot of carrier videos, but they have always been from the back seat because at least one pilot had to hold a video camera. Technology nowadays is so good, that you can put a miniature video camera on your helmet, like this pilot did. It's pretty awesome, because every time he turns his head, you know what he is looking at. You can tell his crosscheck of the boat vs. his position and energy state, by just watching the video.

I feel like I just went for a ride. This just reaffirms what brave Navy pilots do every day, but just imagine doing that in IFR conditions at night on a carrier that is rolling and pitching. No thanks!

Kudos to Navy pilots for doing what they do! :D
