Posted on AAFO forum, a suitably haphazard grammer and spelling missive on a phantom mustang under tarps and detrius...with no ideas in particular with what to do with it.

Is this something fun do do for some folks...? I suppose I am guilty of spreading the story, but I also want it aired out asap...

I doubt it!

"a litte advice litte old man problem"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When a old man ask if you could look at his old mustang too see about getting it running ,first thought CAR!!!! If it's anything like the fabled '32 Ford in a barn stories, it will turn out to be a Navion or something. ;)

Type "AAFO" into Google and you'll find it! :)

Alternatively, you could look here: http://www.aafo.com/hangartalk/

Cut him some slack. Some users on this forum don't know how to use Google! :)

We've been needing a good barn yarn thread around here again. It's been awhile. A pretty good one started there on AAFO.

The one from 5 years ago that had B29Gunner teasing us with "... I gave my word that I would keep it quiet. But let me just say that one of these days when this thing finally goes public, you guys will LITERALLY $@&# a brick when you see this thing. There is really nothing else like it out there!" ... That one still keeps me up at nights.

I think its time for a little clue like: number of engines?; or radial or V12?; or year last flown?; or total known survivors static, wrecksite, or whatever worldwide?. You gotta give us something!

And whatever happened to that Japanese Zero in a cave that popped up a while back? I suppose it's already been restored and flying, right? haha....

hmmm.... give us more info! Considering how many Mustangs survived the war, there's a good chance it could be a real story.

Cheers,

David

I've heard rumors about a crated P-51 here in San Antonio as well. I consider the source somewhat credible, but not sure about that person's source.

When doing my Multi Commercial Instrument at Kingman a bunch of years ago I spent some time at the airport Museum. The old guys in there tell a tale of a "big" surprise that was saved from scrapping and waiting to be brought to light. Can't help but wonder...

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if something had been hidden away for years !
